Hi Monica, I just stumbled upon your blog about Antonio Castillo. He is my great, great uncle and I was so interested and excited to read about him since there is so little information about his career out there. It’s great to see that you focused your thesis on him! PS-I also attended FIT :)

Great to find this! How fascinating.
Is there any way I could have a chance to read your thesis? It would be amazing to see what you have researched and possibly cite for my dissertation (if you would allow this)
I’m studying for an MA in Design and Material Culture at Brighton University in the UK.
My dissertation relates to Percy Savage – chef de publicite at Lanvin from 1951-58 and his influence on PR at this period.
I look forward to hearing from you and look forward to future posts.

hi monica. i found your blog while searching (again) from information about antonio castillo. after reading some of your entries i thought possibly you could have the information i am looking for. when antonio castillo was designing for the house of lanvin ,would any of his scarves been signed simply ‘castillo paris’ ? could it be that before (or after) working at lanvin he designed scarves with the aforementioned words at the bottom right corner?
thanks and i appreciate any information you may have that could help.. michelle goodrich

    • Hi Michelle! Thanks for writing. Castillo has his own couture house after he left Lanvin in 1963. It was a very short-lived venture, as couture lost momentum during the mid to late 1960s because of the rise of ready-to-wear and the Youthquake. I have one scarf like this, and it dates somewhere in the range of 1964-1967. I would love to see an image, and would even buy it from you if you are open to selling it!
